what is abortion and why do we do it

young girls do it when they get pregnant by their boyfriends and are frightened.

married women do it when they don’t want a third or fourth child. Women who are raped do it. Victims of incest do it. Adult women will get pregnant outside of wedlock and “choose” not to have the baby do it.

women who have a baby with health issues do it. women who have health issues themselves do it.

so, there are many reasons good or bad that bring a woman to an abortion clinic.

the availability of abortion persists some of these causes where, for instants, teenagers and young singles wouldn’t be so quick to engage in intimate relations without the outlying possibility of getting an abortion if necessary. Or even the knowledge of how truly tragic an abortion can be.

abortion in cases of rape and incest can be truly uglier than bringing the baby to term.

people used to joke about being heirs to “rape by Cossacks”. In other words, this used to happen all the time.

I suffered in darkness all my life over an incest engendered abortion at age 13 that Ai didn’t understand at the time. Another girl in a similar situation that I knew of had the baby and did much better.

abortion as we now know it is a technology introduced in the 1920s to rid the uterus of an unborn baby. The above mentioned situations are all killer apps for this technology. It appeals to some but there are probably better answers. For instance. abortion is a horrible solution for a woman with health issues herself. It is a violent and intrusive procedure with psychological ramifications.

the cause for abortion, then, is that it has been a status quo that we need to be phasing out as we look for safer alternatives. For each and every different “app.”
