veni vidi vici

my father always liked the expression from the Latin, “veni, vidi, vici,” which translates as “I came, I saw, I conquered.” I have applied this expression liberally recently to talk about how groups have come to America expecting to take over.

since yesterday I have a new take on this expression that applies to everybody. “Veni, vidi, puta”: I came, I saw, I whored to find my place in this society. Unfortunately it passes back to where we came from and affects the whole wide world over. And, it applies to men as well as woman. The most prominent reference I can pull to mind in this regard is the Al Pacino movie, “The Scent of a Woman,” about a man retired from the military who has literally lost his vision and has lost his faith in corrupt political America. Ultimately, he falls in love.

that is rather recursive, in other words, a back track, as romance, i.e., secular humanism, is where the decay and downfall in our society started, where black and white movies in the post WWII era grabbed the attention of destroyed Europeans and gave them something to hold onto in a world that had just disappeared before their eyes. Some of them came here. We fed our passions virtually and demanded what we saw on the silver and then colored screen in our real lives. My parents emigrated in the British “Brain Drain” so believe me I know about this. Film was the first “killer app” of new technology generally, in other words, technology, broadly speaking. I am not downing it I am just thinking outside that box a bit. We take it for granted what we see when we need to question what we are feeing our mind on and who is getting rich from it and why.

Hollywood (or whatever the film industr(ies) are properly called now have so much power, influence and money and nobody questions this.

so, I am guilty here of doing it myself, using a movie as a reference point for a moral argument. That’s how deep this runs in the community of commentary.

So, Kamala Harris is trying to put herself out there as a dreamer and a visionary. Hollywood style.

I think not.

This woman will not last 5 minutes on the world stage.
