About a post I made in error at poet interrupted in 2013.
I all but lost my life over it.
coming back after all these years to say so.
I antagonized an old friend and his father, two beloved luminaries in the literary world with whom I was acquainted through my association with the Harvard undergraduate literary magazine, the Advocate.
I was at a terribly low ebb of my life. Living in a dangerous apartment in downtown Easton; very ill and frightened. Endangered by my neighbors who were a danger to their own child and I was caught in the midst of this.
one night, I was listening to the song by The Fray, “How to Save a Life.” “Drive until the end of the road, break ties with the ones you follow…” Well I was at the end of the road and I saw to break ties with the Advocate so I put Adam and Louis Begley’s names out there in a couple of blog posts in a very negative way. It was a stupid thing to do. Basically it was mischievous and shouldn’t have been taken seriously but it was taken seriously and there was attention for everybody else in this regard but none for me. I’ve been in terrible danger increasingly over this ever since.
I would like to ask for a little forgiveness in this regard. Please dismiss those comments as a prank. I will not reiterate them. I am since known for my political pundit remarks and was always known in college for my hurtful wit. I have changed. The uncurbed British, self-deprecating wit at the heart of it has been helped. It was banal and stupid.
It slowly went away with the removal of the “wart-mole” lesion on my face by my nose.
who coulda thought it?
I dont do or say those rude things any more. That’s what it comes down to. I was RUDE because of the wart-mole. That thing had me in constant pain! Now I continue to struggle to change. Please forgive me, especially in this matter.
