“Right to an abortion” is an oxymoron

The expression “right to an abortion” is sort of an oxymoron.

an abortion is a painful and damaging experience for a woman and death to her child in a way that she is prevented from knowing for years until she finally figures out for herself; then, she is told, “you made a choice.” “Live with it as best as you can.”

there is a serious problem for humanity called “the human condition” that we learn about all of our lives through experience, our faith tradition, and formal education. A major part of it is our sexuality and that sex makes babies when we would like to be able to enjoy it without this consequence at times.

also, as modern medicine makes us weaker and weaker, we have less and less safe pregnancies and less and less healthy deliveries and newborns and children.

and more and more reasons to fear for ourselves and our children and wish we could make it all go away.

Abortion through current methods does not appropriately address these concerns. Violently ripping the baby out of the mother’s womb, thereby killing it, is not an appropriate answer to these concerns.

we do need to address these concerns but we need to do it differently.

instead of trying to defend this divisive political pork barrel agenda called “pro-choice” or “abortion rights” (i.e., the current abortion industry) we need to be quickly turning our attention and efforts to other ways of addressing this concern.

women do not have the “right” to harm themselves they need to be closely protected from it through learning at a young age about the reality of abortion procedures as currently practiced.
