Add Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell to the list of Saints, in their case, saints of modern technology.
I used to disdain the refrigerator and the shower as modern day luxuries unwarranted. Ha ha! They didn’t used to shower in Europe as we do in America and they didn’t always have refrigerators. I am finally showering properly and so appreciating it.
My parents bought the most awful cars. My mother did pride herself on being the first on the block to get a dishwasher and they did love their t.v. And so did Steve and I.
These days, obviously I see technological advances as relating to developments in our going into outer space some day. And being ready to connect with aliens should they come here to find us. Which they already have. Already are.
some technology is good; some isn’t. We have to sort out the wheat from the chaff. In America where it’s all about money and appealing to the lowest common denominator and sex sells, we may need to reconsider what we embrace in technology.
To evaluate what we are doing and why. In technology.
Its still a wild west mentality in America today. Anything goes. People fall through the cracks. No accountability. I do speak through personal experience. It’s the same in technology as in other areas. The “killer app.” i.e., whatever sells. We are putting the cart before the horse that way.
Edison hit on something incredible. Harnessed electricity. We are still stumbling with this, like harnessed fire a million years ago (just checked that fact!). Harnessing fire changed everything. So many metal ages. And wood types for building. And new ways to make war. Et cetera. Now we have electricity and the possibilities are only just beginning to dawn on us. So, yes, my understanding was that back in the 60’s, AT&T was trying to mathematically model human pain and sexuality in a top secret experiment related to understanding of knowledge of ALIENS conducting such experiments on human beings as was quite widely known but silenced.
Where this inheres today I do not know but I wish to be free from a life of pain and suffering in this regard.
