America’s First Saint

I am lifting up Michael Jackson to be made America’s first saint.

He inspired us with his music and dance.

He was wrongfully accused and then martyred.

His song, “Man in the Mirror,” lifted me out of a state hospital when I would have been lost there forever.

I am suggesting that Martin Luther King Day should last for 10 days, like the 12 days of Christmas. 10, because America runs on the decimal system rather than on dozens.

I am suggesting to my son, who has the youth and strength to do it, that he start up a machine shop in Black Philly and in Harlem. Scholarships for the kids who are bright enough to do the work. A candy store for the kids to work, a dress shop, a hair salon. In Harlem, a ballet studio.

Disability pay for adults too exhausted too work. Free psychoanalysis.

Free cigarettes and Kool-Aid.

America is for everybody. God brought Africans here for that reason.

He wanted a lot of Black people here.

Seize the the day.
